Welcome Message
Welcome Message from
the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee
On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, I would like to welcome all of you to join this premier 35th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand (RCST) jointly held with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in this coming July at the Ambassador City Jomtien Hotel, Cholburi, Thailand.
As a member of the RCST who has worked and participated in many RCST activities since graduated, the RCST Annual Scientific Meeting has figured in my life as long as I could remember. I myself as many other members and surgeons recognize well that such annual conference is an important part of our fabric. Each year we pack up and head for the meeting although the venue has remained the same for almost every year as we all are well aware that not many conference venues and hotels are large enough to house the meeting and accommodate the whole event. The most important issue is that the RCST annual conference represents the best surgical conference in Thailand. It offers continuing education in surgery and related fields and paves way for further exchange of views and expertise.
This year’s conference is even more important as the RCST will celebrate its 35th anniversary and it is a good time to review what the College has achieved in the intervening years since founded and also to contemplate the future.
Furthermore, this year not only marks the 35th founding anniversary of the RCST, but we are also honored by our friend, the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), who joins hands with us to host this second Joint Scientific Meeting of the RCST and the RACS.
To embrace the theme of “Surgical Practice under Today’s Circumstances”, all the academic sessions will cover every aspect of the specialties and also the multidisciplinary approaches, from the latest scientific breakthroughs of the laboratory to the clinical hints, which the attending surgeons and others can apply to their surgical practice now and tomorrow.
The social functions are also designed to fulfill the conference’s main objective which is to provide opportunities for every surgeon to develop their knowledge and relax as well as enjoy some few days with friends and family.
Finally, I would like to confirm that no less inspiring than the programme itself is the opportunity to continuously learn, to meet and greet older and younger colleagues, sharing information, expertise and insights. Networking in this way can often be possible in any sessions, academic or social.
I look forward to greeting you and your participation in this coming RCST Annual Scientific Meeting and partaking in the amazing programme with us.
Professor Dr. Soottiporn Chittmittrapap, MD.,FACS.,FRCST.
