The Theme of this congress is “Practical Surgery in the COVID-19 Era”

During the pandemic COVID-19 virus, this global event has been affecting the training processes of every surgical specialities. Also, the decision making of the treatments for surgical patients have adapted for the safety of patients and medical personnel in this critical situation. Therefore, we have to make the consensus of the treatment guidelines of surgical diseases with practical processes and efficient outcome. Furthermore, the workshops of surgical procedures for the trainees and the graduated surgeons during the last 2 years are essential to gain surgical experience particularly for emergency conditions.

I do hope that you will enjoy to meet your colleagues in this scientific congress and contribute your knowledge and experience to stimulate the creative exchange of ideas for the current surgical practice in the COVID-19 era.

We look forward to welcoming you at the congress.

LOCPresident

Chairman of the Organizing Committee

On behalf of the 47th Annual Scientific Congress Organizing Committee of The Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand, I am pleased to invite RCST members and also everyone to attend the Annual Scientific Congress 2022, which will be held on 13-16 July 2022 at the Ambassador City Jomtien Hotel, Pattaya, Chonburi in close collaboration with Ministry of Public Health (6th Joint Surgical Meeting) and National Health Security Office (3rd Joint Surgical Meeting). This congress is still set up in a hybrid meeting format with two major purposes. First, provide much more opportunities for surgeons, residents, and nurses to interact face-to-face, share knowledge, and improve their surgical abilities. In addition, there will be a medical exhibition with several surgical instruments and innovative advancements from well-known medical companies. Another purpose is to enable RCST members and everyone else to participate in real-time with the on-site participants at the congress via an online platform.

Because the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have an impact on surgical operations. The contents of this congress will therefore attempt to present how to cure patients for surgeons and nurses in order to continually treat surgical patients throughout the Next Normal Era which is compatible with the theme of the congress “Practical Surgery in the COVID-19 Era”. There are several interesting topics, such as How to Create Customize Surgeon (Multidisciplinary Session) and Acute abdomen: Adequate and Practical Management of the Ministry of Public Health which will be discussed in this session by representatives from the Royal College of Radiologists of Thailand and the Royal College of Anesthesiologists of Thailand.

Since this congress is being organized in Pattaya, not only will RCST members gain profound knowledge, but they will also enjoy and relax at Congress Dinner and Alumni Beach Party. Moreover, there will be remarkable complimentary shows from Ambassador City Jomtien Hotel. Although there are various events, the Organizing Committee is still concerned about the attendees’ safety and is also strict on COVID-19 screening procedures in the congress, including acquiring ATK test results before entering the congress and wearing surgical masks at all times. Then we hope that all participants and followers will cooperate to make sure everyone’s safety.

The Organizing Committee is certain that all participants would profit from scientific activities as well as enjoy entertaining and amusing events which we propose to arrange and thoroughly prepare for welcoming everyone.
